Birdsong For Biodiversity

Birdsong For Biodiversity

At Wyke, we’re always looking for new ways to work in harmony with nature. That’s why we’ve partnered with Chirrup.ai™ to launch Birdsong for Biodiversity - a three-year pilot project using AI-powered birdsong monitoring to track and improve biodiversity across our farms.

Birds are brilliant indicators of ecosystem health. With Chirrup’s bioacoustic technology, we can now listen to the land and gather real-time data on species richness and environmental wellbeing. It’s a simple, science-backed way to understand how our farming practices support nature - and where we can do even better.

The pilot begins this month across ten farms in the Southwest, which together supply 25% of the milk used in our cheesemaking. Annual reporting will include the Chirrup Rating™, species diversity, and other key indicators of ecosystem health.

This initiative supports our wider Green by Nature strategy and aligns with the UK Dairy Roadmap’s goal of 50% of farms monitoring biodiversity by 2030. It’s another step forward in our mission to leave the land better than we found it.

Stay tuned for updates as the project progresses - and thank you to our producers and partners for helping us lead the way in nature-positive farming.
