A PROUD MOMENT FOR WYKE

A PROUD MOMENT FOR WYKE

As we step into a new year, we’re delighted to share news that celebrates both our family heritage and our commitment to farming for the future. Richard Clothier, part of the third generation of the Clothier family and our Managing Director, has been awarded an MBE in His Majesty The King’s New Year Honours for services to sustainable agriculture and food production.

This honour recognises a lifetime of commitment to farming with care for the environment at its heart. For over 160 years, our family has believed that great cheese begins with respect - for the land, for nature, and for the generations to come. Richard’s work has carried those values forward, ensuring Wyke remains a leader in sustainability while continuing to craft the cheddar you know and love.

Under Richard’s guidance, Wyke has pioneered renewable energy and carbon reduction in the dairy industry. Today, we generate green energy from solar and biogas, recycle water, and operate a closed-loop system that minimises waste. These efforts have helped Wyke become one of the UK’s most sustainable businesses, something we’re incredibly proud of!

But sustainability is more than technology; it’s about custodianship. Every decision we make is rooted in the belief that farming should leave the land better than we found it. That’s why we champion biodiversity, nurture soil health, and support local communities here in Somerset.

This honour not only recognises Richard’s efforts but also celebrates our shared commitment to farming with integrity. From a160-year-old handwritten cheese recipe passed down through generations, to today’s global stage, our story has always been about doing things the right way. It’s also a testament to everyone at Wyke, our dedicated team who share the same passion for sustainability, quality, and craft. Together, we’re proud to set an example for farming done the right way and to keep championing sustainability, protecting our countryside, and crafting world-class cheddar for generations to come.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement!
