In the Community

At the heart of the community.

When you've lived in the same area for over 150 years, you can justifiably call yourself a local. Today the Clothiers of Wyke Champflower are as much a part of the Somerset countryside as the rolling hills and beautiful skies.

Whether in the street or at the pub we're always bumping into people we know. Indeed, many of them work alongside us making our range of fine Cheddars. We are keen supporters of local schools, we sponsor a local rugby team and we put lots of effort into preserving the local environment.

Wild at heart.

We’re passionate about protecting wildlife and the ecosystem. And we adopt several practices to ensure it thrives.

Things like creating six-metre buffer strips of uncultivated land around the edge of our fields. This helps protect rabbits, deer, skylarks and other hedgerow fauna and flora.

Then there’s the management of wet ditches. This provides water for animals like waterfowl, frogs and newts in the dry season.

From tiny bugs and mature trees, to the little owls that hoot across the meadow –we do everything we can to ensure a harmonious, flourishing ecosystem.
